This vegan drink is the perfect choice for cold winter evenings, while tucked under a warm blanket you read some favorite reading or chat with your family. You will need only four ingredients to prepare this irresistibly delicious and healthy hot chocolate.
You love cocoa and chocolate, but you don’t like instant chocolate drinks like they are usually served in café bars and sold in supermarkets?
The “empty” taste and powdery texture of such drinks, which are full of unhealthy sugar, have nothing in common with the richness of the taste of real hot chocolate prepared from raw cocoa, which is a real treasure trove of nutrients and antioxidants.
Therefore, I suggest that you prepare a much better variant at home than the one you buy – hot chocolate with quality, organic cocoa and vegetable milk, sweetened with a natural sweetener of your choice.
This vegan drink is the perfect choice for cold winter evenings, while tucked under a warm blanket you read some favorite reading or chat with your family. You will need only four ingredients to prepare this irresistibly delicious and healthy hot chocolate.
The combination of raw cocoa, cinnamon, agave syrup and almond milk will captivate you with the fullness of flavor, aroma and nutritional value it provides you. There is only one “trap” of this drink: once you try it, your loved ones could ask for more!
Did you know that raw cocoa has always been considered the food of the gods, that it is a superfood and also contains more antioxidants than any other food in the world?
Vegan hot chocolate
Ingredients:
- 1 cup (250 ml) almond milk
- 2 tablespoons agave syrup (or some other natural sweetener)
- 2 teaspoons organic raw cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoons of Ceylon cinnamon powder
Preparation:
- Heat the almond milk in a saucepan, keep it hot, but don’t let it boil. Then remove from the heat and add the other ingredients.
- Mix the ingredients until finely blended. You can also use a mini milk whisk to get a lovely lather on top.
- If you prefer thicker chocolate, you can add a little corn flour if desired. In that case, mix a little corn-flour with a little warm almond milk then add in the hot chocolate and stir until it thickens a little.
- Serve hot chocolate in your favorite cups. You can sprinkle a little more cocoa powder on the drink and, if desired, add a cinnamon stick to the cup.
And your hot chocolate is ready to win all hearts!
Additional advice:
Instead of almond milk, you can use some other vegetable milk. If you are using vegetable milk that is already sweetened, carefully dose the amount of natural sweetener you will add.
Instead of agave syrup, you can sweeten this homemade hot chocolate with some other natural sweetener, such as honey or maple syrup. If you use honey it will no longer be vegan.
Try other natural sweeteners and find out which one suits your palate the most.
This is great. I’m not vegan but I’m lactose intolerant and I never considered an actual recipe for hot choc. Will definitely try this!

I never thought about adding corn flour to make hot chocolate thicker. I love it. I can’t wait to try your hot chocolate recipe with the almond milk.

Great post! This sounds so delicious. My husband gifted me with a hot chocolate bomb for Valentine’s Day, and though it was surely tasty, I’m equally sure that it had a ton of ingredients that were not great on my stomach. This is definitely a much better solution and sounds yummy as well. Thanks for sharing!

I love the sound of this. I really like hot chocolate but I don’t indulge very often because as you described, it can taste very artificial.
I think I will give this a try x
