Men, the female body is not there to satisfy all your sexual whims and perversions. Women, the female body is not there to compare yours with hers and to express your envy or perhaps relief. Let’s stop waging war against the female body. It is the source of life and it seems that the ancient patriarchs and we modern people have forgotten this vital fact.
The female body has become an object. It has become the main tool for sales and capitalism and at the same time, it has become the main tool for discussion on social networks.
Spears of hatred and stones of condemnation are thrown at the female body. Because of obesity, thinness, clothing, hairiness, freckles, cellulite, stretch marks. Complaints are made for a neat, conservative, and closed look as well as for being too sparse, provocative and sexy.
Chastity or vulgarity
Anthropological and ethnological research shows that the female body is a symbol of fertility and life. Her beauty, as well as female power, was celebrated and women were adored. It was the age of matriarchy. With the advent of different religions comes a patriarchal structure that has put the female body in chains.
They went so far as to become obsessed with the idea that the female body is the source of lust, sin, and generally the cause of all worldly evils and wickedness. Only a chaste woman who obeys her husband and gives birth to many children is desirable to be and fulfill her small part of life dominated by men.
Such ideas led to the consequences that patriarchy and consumerism united and enslaved women. Such ideas led to the division of women into saints and prostitutes, the Virgin Mary or Mary Magdalene.
Insults to the female body are becoming more creative
In male but also in female perception, there are dangerous prejudices that produce negative reactions and hate speech every time a woman appears in public.
Every time a woman is talked about, attention is drawn to her appearance. And attacks follow that she is plastic, that she has been operated on, that she is everywhere, a sponsor. That she gained her fame by spreading her legs to powerful men. For the people, there is no other explanation for beauty and success than prostitution.
If a woman posts free photos on social media, it does not mean that men are free to send immoral offers with pictures of their genitals in a direct or inbox. This does not mean that women are obliged to comment on the need to dress, lose weight or gain weight in a more refined way.
Equally nicknamed are hairy armpits, plus size, silicones but also hijab or boy-toy dressing of girls. The latter will be characterized as fanatical Muslim male lesbians.
Just about every look, figure shape, or style of dress has its insult. Shameful and humiliating for our society. We compete in hatred and contempt for the female body.
Devastating consequences
Such insults create danger, poison, and hatred. You may not think about it but with every negative insult in your comments and words, you affect a woman’s self-confidence, mood, and perception of herself.
You are the ones involved in creating the distorted images that are the main cause of mental illness. You are the ones who have the power to bring anorexia, bulimia, panic attacks, paranoia, bipolar disorders with your sting.
Because of your comments, some girl is cutting herself in her bathroom. Or crying into the pillow of her room. She is on the verge of suicide. And this is not an exaggeration, this is reality. Stop dividing women into saints or whores. Stop putting us in molds because not everyone will and can’t look the way your brain with complexes has determined.
Same goes for any human body on this planet. It is not yours to comment on or codem it because it dosen’t fit your view of what a human body should look like.
Such a good article. Sadly, I think it’s always been this way but the nature of social media makes it even more harmful to young women as well, as the internet can be such a mean, cruel place. Sad we’ve gotten to this point. I think we also need to teach young women how to protect themselves online. While a celebrity might not take it personally as much when someone rips her to shreds, as you put it, some young girl could have absolutely devastating consequences 😦
