Polenta with fresh fruit for breakfast

Polenta can be a staple or side dish, and although it has had the epitome of a poor dish in the past, it can now be found in all restaurants as a side dish for meat and fish dishes, and there are a million ways to make this seemingly simple dish on any occasion.

In our area, polenta is eaten for breakfast with the addition of milk or sour cream, however, today we will reveal a hot breakfast recipe that you can easily make and change your daily routine of preparing the most important meal of the day. This is a creamy-sweet version of polenta that you can add to any fruit and nuts.

What do you need?

Cook the polenta as you normally do, instead of water, make it with milk in the ratio of 50:50, (about 3 cups of water and 3 cups of milk, 2 to 3 cups of polenta, a pinch of salt). After removing it from the stove, mix 2 to 3 teaspoons of brown sugar and vanilla extract in the polenta.

Transfer the polenta in to the bowls, pour the milk into which you have added sweet cream, place the fresh fruit of your choice on top. Sprinkle with chopped nuts that will enhance the taste and texture of the dish.

* For a less caloric and healthier version, use maple syrup or honey instead of sugar and avoid cream in milk.

Enjoy!

  2. I hadn’t thought if polenta as a breakfast option, or really as a sweet option either. It makes sense though, I like that idea. I’m going to give it a whirl! Thank you.
